Strongman

Strongman is one of the most gifted lyricists of Ghana's younger rap generation, a technical rapper whose proverb-laden, rapid-fire style has drawn frequent comparisons to the great Obrafour. He built his name the hard way, through freestyle battles and relentless bars.

Early life

He was born Osei Kwaku Vincent on 10 February 1993, and raised in Buokrom in the Ashanti Region. He began rapping as a student, sharpening his skills in the competitive Kumasi hip-hop scene.

Rise through freestyle

He made his name winning radio freestyle competitions, taking titles like Focus FM's Freestyle Friday and being crowned the Next Big Thing in Ghana hip-hop in 2012. That grassroots reputation as a pure rapper set him apart from more commercially minded peers.

Sarkcess Music

In 2017 he signed to Sarkodie's Sarkcess Music, a major endorsement that raised his profile, and though he left after his two-year deal in 2019 to go independent, the association confirmed his standing among the country's elite rappers.

Standing

He was voted best rapper at award shows in Ghana and South Africa, recognition of a talent respected above all for lyrical skill. Strongman remains one of the purest technicians in Ghanaian rap, an artist prized by fans who value bars above everything.
