About Benson Tongo Baba
Benson Tongo Baba is a teacher and National Democratic Congress (NDC) politician who represented Talensi in the Upper East Region from 2017 to 2025. He was born on 23 September 1948 and comes from Tengzug, near the Tongo hills.
Tongo Baba trained as a teacher at Pusiga Training College and studied at the University of Education, Winneba. Talensi has long been a three-way fight between the NDC, the NPP and the PNC, and he won it in 2016 with about 42 percent of the vote and in 2020 with about 46 percent. Daniel Dung Mahama of the NDC succeeded him in 2025.
