About Bernard Okoe-Boye
Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye is a medical doctor who represented Ledzokuku in Accra for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2021 and went on to lead the National Health Insurance Authority and serve as Ghana's Minister for Health. He was born on 25 January 1982 and comes from Teshie.

Okoe-Boye attended Field Engineers Junior High School and Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (Presec) in Legon, and studied human biology, medicine and surgery at KNUST. He took a Master of Public Health at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. He did his house job at the Central Regional Hospital in Cape Coast and Tema General Hospital, then worked as a medical officer at Kibi Government Hospital, La General Hospital and LEKMA Hospital.
Health leadership
After one term as MP he chaired the board of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the country's largest hospital, and then became chief executive of the National Health Insurance Authority. On 14 February 2024 President Akufo-Addo nominated him as Minister for Health. In March 2024 he called for taxes on dialysis consumables to be removed to ease the cost of kidney treatment. Benjamin Narteh Ayiku of the NDC holds Ledzokuku today.
