Cecilia Abena Dapaah

Cecilia Abena Dapaah is a development worker who represented Bantama in Kumasi for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for two terms, from 2005 to 2013, and was a minister under two presidents. She was born on 27 November 1954 and comes from Mpasatia.

Under Kufuor

She graduated in French and linguistics from the University of Ghana in 1979 and later studied at Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Oslo. She was a special assistant to President Kufuor and chaired the Cocoa Processing Company from 2001. She won Bantama in 2004 with 83.5 percent of the vote, became Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, and was substantive minister from 2007 to 2008.

Under Akufo-Addo

In 2017 she became Minister for Aviation, and in 2018 Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources. She resigned in July 2023 after it emerged that large sums of cash in dollars, euros and cedis had been stolen from her home by domestic staff; the Office of the Special Prosecutor arrested and investigated her, and the High Court later ordered her frozen accounts released. She is a Methodist. Francis Asenso-Boakye of the NPP holds Bantama today.
