About Daniel Okyem Aboagye
Daniel Okyem Aboagye (31 December 1973 – 23 September 2023) was an accountant and microfinance executive who represented Bantama in Kumasi for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2021.
Microfinance career
Born at Atwima Boko, Aboagye studied business administration at the University of Ghana and took an MBA at Troy University in Alabama, qualifying as a US certified public accountant in 2003. He began as a branch manager at Sinapi Aba Trust in 1998, managed projects for Opportunity International, worked as financial controller of Globe Union in the United States and ran MGI Microfinance from 2008 to 2012. He later headed 2M Express Transport Services.
Bantama
He won the NPP primary in 2015 and the seat in 2016, and sat on the Finance Committee. In June 2020 he lost the primary to Francis Asenso-Boakye, who went on to become MP and a cabinet minister.
Aboagye died at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on 23 September 2023, aged 49. He was married with children.
