Davis Ansah Opoku

Davis Ansah Opoku made his name in pressure-group politics before Parliament. As director of communications and then operations for the Alliance for Accountable Governance, he campaigned against alleged wrongdoing under the NDC, and he was part of the Let My Vote Count movement.

Roots

Born in Accra on 13 September 1984, he has Kwahu roots on both sides: his father is from Asakraka and his mother from Obomeng. He attended Nkwatia Secondary School and studied laboratory technology at the University of Cape Coast, then law through the University of London and communication at the University of Leicester. He has a certificate in political communication from the International Academy for Leadership in Germany.

Parliament

In the 2020 NPP primary he beat Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister, for the Mpraeso ticket, and won the seat that December. On the Minority side he is second-in-command on the committee that scrutinises public accounts, and he also serves on the works and housing committee. In July 2026 he argued that the Council of State's advice against the constitution amendment bill did not end the process, since the final decision lay with Parliament. In 2021 he was named among the 40 Under 40 young leaders in governance.
