Isaac Osei

Isaac Osei is an economist and industrialist who has led some of Ghana's biggest state enterprises and represented Subin in Kumasi for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) until 2017. He was born at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi on 29 March 1951.

Economist

Osei attended Achimota School and studied economics at the University of Ghana, graduating in 1973, then took courses at the University of Colorado and a master's in development economics at Williams College in Massachusetts. He began at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, founded Ghanexim Economic Consultants and consulted for the World Bank and USAID. He also ran Intravenous Infusions, which he describes as West Africa's largest maker of IV fluids.

Public service

He was Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2001 to 2006 and chaired the Commonwealth Secretariat's board of governors while in London. He became chief executive of COCOBOD in 2006, and has also been managing director of Tema Oil Refinery. More recently he has chaired the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. Kofi Obiri Yeboah holds Subin today.
