About John Frimpong Osei
John Frimpong Osei is a microfinance specialist who represented Abirem in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for two terms, from 2017 to 2025. He was born on 5 March 1971 at Akim Ntronang.
He studied geography and resource development at the University of Ghana and took an MPhil there in 2004. He managed O-M Finance and Business Service and was a special assistant at the ministries of Finance, Education and Youth and Sports from 2002 to 2005. He won Abirem in 2016 with 61 percent of the vote and in 2020 with 55.2 percent, both times against Mavis Ama Frimpong of the NDC, and chaired the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee. He lost the 2024 NPP primary. Charles Asuako Owiredu of the NPP holds Abirem today.
