John Ntim Fordjour

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has represented Assin South for the NPP since 2017 and was a Deputy Minister of Education under President Akufo-Addo. In 2026 he was among ten MPs from both sides who sponsored the reintroduced anti-LGBTQ bill.

Background

He was born on 28 May 1986 and comes from Assin Kruwa in the Central Region. After Assin Manso Senior High School he studied mineral engineering at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, graduating in 2007, and earned an MA in economic policy management at the University of Ghana in 2014. He is working on a PhD in political science there. He is senior pastor of Victory Bible Church International's Higher Heights Sanctuary in East Legon.

Parliament

He first won Assin South in 2016 with 23,308 of 39,887 valid votes. In Parliament he has chaired the Ghana-Canada friendship group, been vice chair of the committee on members holding offices of profit and sat on the Foreign Affairs Committee. He has also served on the board of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation.

Family values bill

The bill was laid in February 2026 and passed with amendments on 29 May 2026. Ntim Fordjour said the minority backed its aims but opposed the changes, such as exemptions for lawyers and medical and counselling professionals, and wanted the earlier, tougher version. He later said Speaker Bagbin was right to seek reconsideration of the bill.
