About Joseph Albert Quarm
Dr Joseph Albert Quarm, known as Prof Quarm, is a scientist, publisher and businessman who represented Manso-Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2021. He was born on 7 May 1975 and comes from Manso Nsiana.
Books, hospitals and mining
Quarm holds a BSc, an MPhil and a PhD in biological sciences from KNUST and describes himself as a land reclamation expert and mining consultant. His business empire began with Prof Quarm Publications, which he ran from 1995, and grew to include a hospital, a construction company and a football club. In December 2020 President Akufo-Addo commissioned the 100-bed Prof Quarm hospital at Manso Nsiana, and in July 2020 he was named chairman of the KNUST Foundation.
Politics
He beat the sitting MP, Grace Addo, in the 2015 primary and won the seat with 83 percent of the vote, but lost the NPP ticket in the June 2020 primaries. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo now represents Manso-Nkwanta.
