About Esther Obeng Dapaah
Esther Obeng Dapaah is a lawyer who was Minister for Lands, Forestry and Mines under President Kufuor and represented Abirem in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2005 to 2017. She was born in 1945 and comes from Nkwarteng.
Obeng Dapaah studied law in England, at the Chelmer Institute in Essex and Lincoln's Inn, and qualified at the Ghana School of Law in 1979. She worked as a rent enforcement officer for the London Borough of Newham before returning to Ghana. In Parliament she chaired the committee on women and children and served on the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, and she was a member of the Pan-African Parliament. She worships at the Church of Pentecost and has three children. Charles Owiredu holds Abirem today.
