About Farouk Aliu Mahama
Farouk Aliu Mahama is a procurement specialist and New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician who represented Yendi in the Northern Region from 2021 to 2025. He is a son of Aliu Mahama, Ghana's Vice-President under John Kufuor, and was born on 27 April 1981.
Schools and supply chains
He attended Sakasaka Presby Experimental School in Tamale and Achimota School before secondary school at Prempeh College in Kumasi. He studied marketing at GIMPA and took a master's degree in procurement and supply chain management at Coventry University in England. He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply and has taken leadership courses at Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Harvard Kennedy School.
Yendi
In June 2020 he won the NPP primary for Yendi, his father's hometown, ahead of Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakaria and Baba Daney, and took the seat that December with about 40,000 votes. Alhassan Abdul-Fatawu of the National Democratic Congress won Yendi in 2024.
