About Festus Awuah Kwofie
Dr Festus Awuah Kwofie is a banker who represented Upper Denkyira East in the Central Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the Eighth Parliament, from 2021 to 2025. He was born on 8 January 1967 and comes from Buabinso near Dunkwa-on-Offin.
A career in finance
After secondary school at Tarkwa and Fijai, Kwofie studied statistics, economics and geography at the University of Ghana and later took an MBA in finance at the University of Leicester and further studies at the Swiss Business School in Zurich. He worked as director of risk management at Bank of Africa Ghana, deputy managing director of Cocoa Merchants Limited and chief finance officer of First African Group, and ran his own firm, Jeseque Company Limited.
Into Parliament
In June 2020 he beat the sitting MP, Nana Amoako, in the NPP primary and went on to win the seat. He also served on the board of the Ghana Shippers' Authority.
