About Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng
Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng is a development planner and lawyer who represented Berekum West in the Bono Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for four terms, from 2009 to 2025, and was a Deputy Minister for Railways Development.
A planner who studied law
Born on 1 November 1972 at Jinijini, he studied planning at KNUST, graduating in 1997, and took an MSc in public policy and management at the University of London. He then turned to law, with a postgraduate certificate from Anglia Ruskin University and an LLB from GIMPA. For ten years before politics he worked as a development planner and legal consultant.
Railways and a maternity ward
He won Berekum West in 2008 and kept it through 2012, 2016 and 2020, though his 2020 margin was slim. Under President Akufo-Addo he served as deputy railways minister. At home, he commissioned a maternity ward at the Nkyekyemamu Health Centre and equipped the Amankwokwa CHPS compound.
Dickson Kyere-Duah, whom he had narrowly beaten in 2020, won the seat for the NDC in 2024.
