About Mark Assibey-Yeboah
Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah is an economist who represented New Juaben South in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for two terms, from 2013 to 2021, and chaired Parliament's Finance Committee. He was born on 2 March 1974 and comes from Obo-Kwahu.
He went to Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School in Legon and Ghana Secondary School in Koforidua, studied agricultural economics at KNUST and took an MS at the University of Delaware and a PhD in economics at the University of Tennessee, where he also taught. He was a senior economist at the Bank of Ghana and lectured at GIMPA and Ghana Telecom University College. He has published in journals including the Economic Record and the North American Journal of Economics and Finance. After winning the NPP primary in 2012, he won the seat in 2012 and 2016 and chaired the Finance Committee in the Seventh Parliament. He sat on the board of ADB from 2018 to 2021. He is married with three children. Michael Okyere Baafi of the NPP holds the seat today.
