About Matthew Nyindam
Matthew Nyindam has represented Kpandai for the NPP since 2013. After the 2024 election the Tamale High Court annulled his win and ordered a rerun, but in January 2026 the Supreme Court quashed that order by four votes to one.
Background
He was born on 1 December 1975 and comes from Kumdi in the Northern Region. He earned a BEd in social studies at the University of Education, Winneba, in 2007 and taught at Barekese Secondary School in Ashanti.
Elections
He first won Kpandai in 2012 with 16,221 votes in a six-way race, ahead of the NDC's Lipkalimor Kwajo Tawiah, and was returned in 2016. In November 2025, ruling on a petition by the NDC's Daniel Nsala Wakpal, the High Court ordered a new poll within 30 days. Nyindam appealed, the Supreme Court halted the rerun planned for 31 December 2025, and in January 2026 it set aside the High Court's decision, with Justice Pwamang dissenting.
