About Mercy Adu-Gyamfi
Mercy Adu-Gyamfi is a businesswoman who represented Akwatia in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2021. She was born in Akwatia on 1 May 1971.
She attended Presby Middle School in Akwatia, trained as a hairdresser and ran Amasey Pharmacy in Kade. She beat the sitting MP Kofi Asare in the 2012 primary, lost that year's election, and then won Akwatia in 2016 with 57.2 percent of the vote against the NDC's Baba Jamal. She sat on the Employment and Social Welfare Committee. Henry Yiadom Boakye of the NDC took the seat in 2020. She worships with the Church of Pentecost and is married with six children.
