Misbahu Mahama Adams

Misbahu Mahama Adams is a Ghanaian chartered accountant and politician born on 15 September 1980 in Sang in the Northern Region, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Mion constituency. A member of the National Democratic Congress elected in December 2024, he assumed office on 7 January 2025 as a first-term parliamentarian representing a constituency in the Mion District of the Northern Region, an area north of the Volta Basin along the Eastern Corridor highway corridor where subsistence agriculture, livestock and small-scale farming are the dominant livelihoods.

Education

Adams attended Navrongo Senior High School for his secondary education. He then obtained a Higher National Diploma from Tamale Polytechnic in 2002, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in 2006. His GIMPA education connected him to one of Ghana's premier postgraduate management institutions, giving him a professional management foundation to complement his accounting qualifications. He is a chartered accountant, a professional designation that certifies his expertise in financial reporting, audit, tax and management accounting to the standards of Ghana's chartered accountancy professional body.

2024 election and parliamentary career

He contested the Mion constituency in December 2024 and won with 20,273 votes, defeating his NPP opponent to win the seat for the NDC. He assumed office on 7 January 2025. Mion is a constituency in the Mion District of the Northern Region, a relatively remote area of the Savanna zone whose communities depend on groundnut, maize and yam cultivation alongside cattle and small ruminant herding. The constituency's development needs include improved road access, agricultural support and the strengthening of social services in communities that have historically been underserved by both central and local government.
