Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru

Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru is a chartered accountant and auditor who represented Nanton in the Northern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2025 and served as a Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture. He was born on 16 July 1969.

Accountant and lecturer

Tufeiru studied accounting at the University of Cape Coast, graduating in 2000, and earned an MBA in accounting at the University of Ghana in 2006. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 2009 and is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He lectured at Tamale Technical University from 2001 and headed its internal audit department from 2007 to 2016, and he taught accounting and auditing courses for the distance programmes of several universities.

An auditor in Parliament

His audit background shaped his parliamentary work. In the Seventh Parliament he was deputy ranking member of the Public Accounts Committee, and from 2017 to 2021 he sat on the board of the Petroleum Commission, chairing its finance and local content committees, and on the audit committee of Ghana Gas. He is married with children.
