Moses Aduku Asaga

Moses Aduku Asaga is a petroleum engineer and economist who represented Nabdam in the Upper East Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for four terms, from 1997 to 2013, and later ran the National Petroleum Authority. He was born on 1 July 1957.

He studied industrial chemistry at KNUST, petroleum engineering at the University of Aberdeen, finance at Yonsei University and financial economics at Durham University, and worked as a project finance manager at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. He won Nabdam in 1996 and held it through 2008. A 2009 ministerial nomination was withdrawn over ex-gratia payments he had authorised, but in 2012 President Mills made him Minister for Employment and Social Welfare. He lost Nabdam in 2012 to Boniface Gambila Adagbila of the NPP, and President Mahama appointed him chief executive of the National Petroleum Authority in 2013. He is a Catholic. Mark Kurt Nawaane of the NDC holds Nabdam today.
