Michael Kwasi Aidoo
Member of Parliament
About Michael Kwasi Aidoo
Michael Kwasi Aidoo is a Ghanaian creative arts professional, business strategist and politician born on 8 September 1985 in Wassa Akropong in the Western Region, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti Region. A member of the New Patriotic Party who won the seat in December 2024 as a first-term parliamentarian, he brings an unusual combination of fine arts academic training, strategic management credentials and parliamentary representation of a densely populated constituency in the Kumasi Metropolitan District.
Education
Aidoo attended Prempeh College, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2003. He went on to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008, a creative arts degree that positioned him within the aesthetic and design dimensions of visual culture. He then pursued postgraduate management education, returning to KNUST for a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management and Consultancy in 2015, combining the creative sensibility of his undergraduate arts training with the analytical and strategic tools of a management master's degree.
Political career
He contested the NPP's parliamentary primaries for Oforikrom in 2024 and won, securing the party's nomination for the general election. In December 2024, he won the Oforikrom constituency with 47,709 votes, one of the larger individual vote totals from a Kumasi Metropolitan constituency in that election cycle, reflecting the density and the strong NPP orientation of Oforikrom's urban and peri-urban communities. He assumed office on 7 January 2025. Oforikrom is a constituency in the Oforikrom Municipal District on the eastern fringe of the Kumasi metropolitan area, a constituency with a mixed urban-peri-urban character where commerce, artisanal industries and the economic activities of a growing secondary city community define daily life.
Political Legacy
Michael Kwasi Aidoo's unusual combination of a fine arts undergraduate degree and a strategic management MBA, brought to the parliamentary representation of a densely populated Kumasi metropolitan constituency, gives his first term a professional profile that bridges the creative economy and the analytical demands of parliamentary oversight.
