About Mike Allen Hammah
Mike Allen Hammah is a quantity surveyor and development planner who represented Effutu in the Central Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in two spells, from 1997 to 2005 and from 2009 to 2013, and served as Minister for Transport and then Minister for Lands and Natural Resources under President Mills. He was born on 28 August 1955 and comes from Winneba.
He went to Ghana Secondary Technical School in Takoradi, studied building technology at KNUST and earned an MBA in finance from Central University College in 2008. In his first term he was Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport. He won Effutu in 1996 and 2000, then again in 2008 with 54.5 percent of the vote. President Mills made him Minister for Transport in February 2009 and moved him to Lands and Natural Resources in January 2011. Alexander Afenyo-Markin of the NPP has held Effutu since 2013. He is a Methodist, married with three children.
