About Michael Yaw Gyato
Michael Yaw Gyato is a New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician who represented Krachi East, now in the Oti Region, from 2017 to 2021 and served as a Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources. He was born in Dambai on 2 April 1970.
Gyato studied at Accra Polytechnic and GIMPA. He founded the Smiling Heart Foundation, a charity in the Krachi East Municipality that supports people in need and people with disabilities. His 2016 win over the NDC's Wisdom Gidisu was one of the closest of that election, by just 47 votes. Gidisu reclaimed the seat in 2020, and Nelson Kofi Djabab of the NDC holds it today.
