About Emmanuel Marfo
Dr Emmanuel Kwabena Marfo is a forest policy scientist who represented Oforikrom, the Kumasi constituency that is home to KNUST, for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2025. He chaired Parliament's Environment, Science and Technology Committee.

Born on 27 July 1973 in Bonwire, the kente town, Marfo studied forestry and forest policy at KNUST before completing a PhD in environmental policy at Wageningen University in the Netherlands in 2006. He then worked as a principal scientist at the CSIR Forestry Research Institute at Fumesua, just outside Kumasi.
Oforikrom
He won the NPP primary in 2016 and held the seat twice, taking more than 60,000 votes in 2020. His scientific background made him a natural choice to lead the Environment, Science and Technology Committee, and he also sat on the board of the Forest Plantation Development Fund.
Michael Kwasi Aidoo succeeded him as Oforikrom's MP in 2025.
