About Daniel Nsala Wakpal
Daniel Nsala Wakpal is a National Democratic Congress (NDC) politician who represented Kpandai in the Northern Region from 2021 to 2025, and whose defeat in 2024 led to one of the longest-running election disputes of the Ninth Parliament. He was born on 15 March 1975 and comes from Saboba.

The Kpandai petition
In the December 2024 election the Electoral Commission declared the NPP's Matthew Nyindam the winner. Wakpal went to court on 23 December 2024, citing irregularities in the result sheets of 41 of the constituency's 152 polling stations. In November 2025 the High Court agreed, finding that the irregularities affected the outcome, and ordered a rerun. The Supreme Court later set that ruling aside because the petition had been filed outside the time allowed by law. In 2026 Wakpal returned to the Supreme Court to challenge the 21-day deadline for parliamentary election petitions itself.
