Samuel Tettey

Samuel Tettey is a Ghanaian election administrator who spent his career at the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), rising from district officer to Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations. He held the deputy chair post from August 2018 until 2026, when he retired on reaching the compulsory retirement age.

Career at the Electoral Commission

Tettey worked as District Electoral Officer for the Awutu/Effutu/Senya District and later as the EC's Central Regional Director, a post he held from 2005 to 2011. In January 2014 he became Director of Electoral Services (Elections). He also served on election observer missions to Lesotho, Guinea and Liberia.

Deputy Chairperson

In July 2018 President Nana Akufo-Addo nominated him as a deputy chairperson after the removal of Charlotte Osei and her deputies. He was sworn in on 1 August 2018 alongside the Chairperson, Jean Mensa, and Dr Eric Bossman Asare. As deputy for Operations he was responsible for the running of elections, including the 2020 and 2024 general elections.

The government confirmed his retirement on 15 June 2026, at the same briefing that announced Asare's resignation. On 12 October 2026 President John Mahama swore in Emelia Afi Agbenyo and Dr Joseph Kwaku Asamoah as the new deputies.
