About Alfred Kwame Agbesi
Alfred Kwame Agbesi (20 February 1955 – 2 May 2025) was a lawyer and National Democratic Congress (NDC) politician who represented Ashaiman for three terms, from 2005 to 2017, and served as Deputy Majority Leader under President Mahama.
Agbesi came from Agave-Afedume in the Volta Region. He studied law at the University of Ghana and qualified at the Ghana School of Law in 1981, and worked as a lawyer in the Judicial Service before entering politics. He was a member of Ghana's delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament from 2009. In 2015 he lost the NDC primary to Ernest Henry Norgbey, who holds Ashaiman today. He died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on 2 May 2025, aged 70, and was buried in his hometown. He was married with six children.
