About Alhassan Azong
Alhassan Azong is a chartered secretary and lecturer who represented Builsa South in the Upper East Region for the People's National Convention (PNC) from 2009 to 2017, and was the only PNC member of the Sixth Parliament. He was born on 18 December 1965 and comes from Wiesi.
Azong qualified as a chartered secretary in 1996, took an MBA at the Paris Graduate School of Management and lectured at Bolgatanga Polytechnic. He won Builsa South in 2008 by just 59 votes and increased his majority to more than 6,000 in 2012. Although not an NDC member, he served in the Mills and Mahama governments as Minister of State responsible for Public Sector Reform. He is married with six children. Clement Apaak of the NDC holds the seat today.
