Ama Pomaa Boateng

Ama Pomaa Boateng is an IT consultant who became one of Parliament's most tech-minded members as MP for Juaben in the Ashanti Region, a seat she held for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2025. She was born in Juaben on 19 August 1975.

Technology and training

A Holy Child School alumna, Boateng earned a master's degree in information studies from Anglia Ruskin University and a computing certificate from the University of Westminster, and later trained at the United Nations e-waste Academy. She runs Ghanaian High-tech Women, an NGO that trains women in IT, and through her foundation she operated a Cisco Networking Academy programme for young women.

Digitising Parliament

Inside the House she co-chaired the e-Parliament and ICT steering committee, which worked on bringing Parliament's processes online. She also sat on the board of the National Petroleum Authority, where she chaired the complaints and settlements subcommittee.

Primary defeat

She won Juaben in 2016 with about three-quarters of the vote, but in the 2024 NPP primaries she lost to Francis Owusu-Akyaw, who went on to win the seat. She is married with one child.
