Chinnia attended Tumu Secondary Technical School and trained as a teacher at Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education in Wa. He later earned an MPhil in agriculture, specialising in horticulture. He is married with three children. Mohammed Issah Bataglia of the National Democratic Congress won Sissala East in 2024.
