Angela Alorwu-Tay

Angela Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay is a former district chief executive who represented Afadjato South in the Volta Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from 2017 to 2025. She was born on 16 April 1971.

Background

She attended Nkonya Secondary School, earned a BA from the University of Ghana and a diploma from the West Africa Computer Science Institute, and later an MA in democracy, governance, law and development from the University of Cape Coast. She worked as a secretary at Unique Insurance, as a manager at Tahnaf Service and, from 2012 to 2016, as a District Chief Executive.

Parliament

She won the NDC primary in 2015 by a wide margin and was one of five women elected in the Volta Region in 2016. In Parliament she pressed the government to meet its pledge of giving women 30 percent of appointments. She is widowed with two children. Frank Afriyie of the NDC succeeded her in 2025.
