About Alfred Sugri Tia
Dr Alfred Sugri Tia is a veterinary surgeon who won Nalerigu-Gambaga in the Northern (now North East) Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2008 and served as a Deputy Minister for Health. He was born on 12 March 1956 and comes from Samini.
Tia qualified as a vet at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and was chief executive of Central Veterinary Company in Tema. He won Nalerigu-Gambaga in 2008, ahead of the NPP's Hajia Alima Mahama, and succeeded Rojo Mettle-Nunoo as deputy health minister. He is a Presbyterian, married with five children. Nurideen Mumuni Muhammed of the NPP holds the seat today.
