Epixode

Epixode (born Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, 16 March 1990) is a Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste, painter and creative director from Jamestown, Accra. He won Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards.

Early life

He grew up in Jamestown, where his mother performed traditional music. He started writing songs in his early teens and won local dancehall competitions before releasing his own records.

Career

His style blends reggae and dancehall with highlife and Afrobeats, sung in English, Ga, Twi and Jamaican patois. Early singles included Ghetto Anthem and A Song for Mandela (2014), followed by Wahala Dey and Bad Mind Go Dead (2019). Too Much was nominated for Record of the Year and Songwriter of the Year at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards, where he won Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year. He then won Performer of the Year at the 2022 3Music Awards.

In 2022 he released Jehovah with Stonebwoy and Atia, which he also recorded as a highlife version with Kwabena Kwabena and as a folk version. Atia won Best Reggae/Dancehall Song at the 2023 Ghana Music Awards. He has performed at festivals in Switzerland and Belgium, and received the Music For Good award at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards.

Visual art

Epixode is a trained painter. He has designed album art, stage visuals and promotional graphics, and is credited with creating the SM logo for Shatta Wale. In 2024 he started a programme coaching young people from poor communities in art and music.
