About George Boakye
George Boakye is an educationist who represented Asunafo South, in today's Ahafo Region, for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2009 to 2013. He was born on 6 October 1956 and comes from Sankore.
He studied social science at KNUST and educational planning at the University of Cape Coast, and was vice-principal of St Joseph's Training College in Bechem. He served as District Chief Executive for Asunafo South before winning the seat in 2008. Eric Opoku of the NDC took it in 2012 and holds it today. In 2017 he was one of four former MPs the British High Commission accused of using diplomatic passports to help relatives into the UK; in his case, a daughter who stayed on for three years. He is a Catholic, married with six children.
