Joe Gidisu

Joe Gidisu is a teacher who was Minister for Roads and Highways under President Mills and represented North Tongu and then Central Tongu in the Volta Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from 2001 to 2017. He was born at Bakpa Alabonu on 22 February 1952.

Gidisu trained at Kibi Men's Training College and the Advanced Teacher Training College in Winneba, earned a BA at the University of Ghana in 1981 and an MA in development studies at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. He taught at Bontibor Primary School and Dormaa Secondary School. He won North Tongu in 2000 and, after boundary changes, Central Tongu in 2004 and 2008. In February 2009 President Mills appointed him Minister for Roads and Highways. Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze of the NDC holds Central Tongu today.
