Kojo Oppong Nkrumah

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah took over Joy FM's Super Morning Show after Komla Dumor left for the BBC. A decade later he was Ghana's Minister of Information, a post he held from November 2018.

Background

Kojo Vincent Oppong Nkrumah was born in Koforidua on 5 April 1982 to Kwame and Felicia Oppong Nkrumah, both teachers, and comes from Akim Anyinase. He attended St. Bernadette Soubirous School in Dansoman and Pope John Senior High School, studied commerce at the University of Cape Coast, earned an MBA from the University of Ghana in 2012 and an LLB from GIMPA in 2014, and was called to the Bar in 2016.

Career

He started as a treasury analyst at British American Tobacco in 2006 before joining Joy FM. In 2014 he left broadcasting to set up an investment firm, West Brownstone Capital, and later practised law. He became NPP MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi, served as Information Minister from 2018 and later as Minister for Works and Housing. The World Economic Forum named him a Young Global Leader in 2020, and in 2023 he chaired the Africa Internet Governance Forum.

Constituency

His education fund, set up in 2017, had given scholarships to more than 300 young people from Ofoase-Ayirebi by 2022.
