About Kwadjo Asante
Kwadjo Asante, known as Oboafo, is a businessman who represented Suhum in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2021 to 2025, and later broke with the party to run as an independent. He was born on 21 June 1977 and comes from Akropong-Akuapem.
Chemist and businessman
Asante trained as a science teacher, with a Bachelor of Education in chemistry, and later added a postgraduate diploma in business analytics and an MBA in finance. He is managing director of Kay and Moby Company Limited.
One term, then a split
He won Suhum in 2020, defeating the NDC's Amanda Okyere Kwatia, and sat on the Defence and Interior Committee. In January 2024 he lost the NPP primary to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, known as Protozoa, by 320 votes to 496. In September he announced he would run as an independent, and despite media reports that he had backed down, he said he was staying in the race. Asiedu Bekoe won the seat for the NPP in December 2024.
