Kwadwo Damoah
Member of Parliament
About Kwadwo Damoah
Colonel Kwadwo Damoah is a Ghanaian retired military officer, tax administrator and politician who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Jaman South constituency in the Bono Region. A member of the New Patriotic Party who won the seat in December 2024 after defeating the former MP in the party's internal primaries, he assumed office on 7 January 2025 as a first-term parliamentarian, bringing a distinguished military career and executive leadership of the Ghana Revenue Authority's Customs Division to the representation of a Bono Region constituency that sits at the boundary between the forest and savanna zones of Ghana's midsection.
Military and customs career
Colonel Damoah served as an officer in the Ghana Armed Forces, attaining the rank of Colonel before transitioning from active service to a senior public administrative role. He was appointed Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, one of the most operationally significant positions within the country's revenue administration system. As Commissioner of Customs, he was responsible for the oversight of Ghana's customs services at all ports of entry, including the collection of import and export duties, the enforcement of trade regulations and the management of the customs workforce across the country's land, sea and air entry points. His customs leadership gave him executive responsibility for a division whose revenue collections constitute a significant proportion of Ghana's total domestic revenue intake.
Political career
He contested the NPP's parliamentary primaries for Jaman South in December 2023, winning with 289 votes against former MP Yaw Afful who received 240 votes, a narrow primary victory that secured him the party's nomination for the 2024 general election. In December 2024, he won the Jaman South seat in the general election. Jaman South is a constituency in the Jaman South District of the Bono Region, a largely agricultural area where farming, including yam production, cashew cultivation and food crops, is the primary livelihood. He assumed office on 7 January 2025.
Political Legacy
Colonel Kwadwo Damoah's transition from military service to customs administration to parliamentary politics gives his first term a career foundation that combines command experience, revenue administration leadership and the competitive politics of primary and general election campaigning in a Bono Region constituency.
