About Sandra Opoku
Sandra Opoku is a lawyer who in March 2019 became the first woman to head Tema Port, Ghana's largest seaport.
She went to St Rose's Secondary School in Akwatia, read law at the University of Ghana and was called to the bar in October 2001, then took a master's in international maritime law at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute in Malta in 2004.
She joined the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority in 2003 and worked there as a lawyer, general manager for administration, general manager for legal and board secretary. President Akufo-Addo appointed her director of Tema Port in 2019 in succession to Edward Kofi Osei. She is a Presbyterian, married with three children.
