Albert Kan-Dapaah

Albert Kan-Dapaah is a chartered accountant who represented Afigya-Sekyere West in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for four terms, from 1997 to 2013, and served as Minister for National Security under President Akufo-Addo from 2017 to 2024. He was born on 14 March 1953 and comes from Maase-Boaman.

Accountancy

He went to Acherensua Secondary School and trained as an accountant at the Institute of Professional Studies and in London. He worked for Pannell Kerr Forster in Monrovia and London, headed audit at SSNIT, and was director of finance at the Electricity Corporation of Ghana. In 1996 he was president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana.

Government

He won Afigya-Sekyere West in 1996 and held it through 2008. Under President Kufuor he was Minister for Energy, then Minister for Communications and Technology from 2003, then Minister for the Interior. In January 2017 he became Minister for National Security and held the post until the end of the Akufo-Addo government. He is married with four children and is the uncle of the NDC MP Collins Adomako-Mensah.
