About Irene Naa Torshie Addo
Irene Naa Torshie Addo is a lawyer and diplomat who represented Tema West for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2009 to 2017, served as a Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and later ran the District Assemblies Common Fund. She was born in Osu on 30 September 1970.
Addo studied law at the University of Ghana, was called to the Bar in 1996 and took an LLM in gender and development at the University of Warwick in 1999. In September 2006 she was posted as deputy ambassador at Ghana's embassy in Washington. She won Tema West in 2008 and 2012 but lost the 2015 primary to Carlos Ahenkorah. President Akufo-Addo then appointed her Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund. She is a Baptist with three children. James Enu of the NDC holds Tema West today.
