About Kwasi Boateng Adjei
Kwasi Boateng Adjei is a veteran of local administration who represented New Juaben North in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2013 to 2025 and served as a Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
Koforidua's mayor
Born on 29 August 1954 at Asokore in New Juaben, Adjei attended Ghana Senior High School in Koforidua and studied business administration at the University of Ghana. He worked as a manager and human resources practitioner and headed the New Juaben College of Commerce. From 2001 to 2009 he was Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben, in effect the mayor of Koforidua.
Parliament
He won New Juaben North in 2012 and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020. His years running the municipality made him a natural pick for the local government ministry, where he served as deputy from 2017.
He is a Methodist, married with three children. Nana Osei-Adjei succeeded him for the NPP in 2025.
