About Patricia Appiagyei
Patricia Appiagyei was the first woman to run the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, as its chief executive from 2005 to 2009. She has represented Asokwa for the NPP since 2017.

She was born in Kumasi on 28 November 1956 and has roots in Konongo and Asawase. After St. Louis Secondary School she studied economics and law at KNUST, graduating in 1980, and took a postgraduate diploma in development economics in 1988.
Career
She was executive director of marketing at City Investments Company from 1995 to 2010. She served as a deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the Kufuor government before becoming Kumasi's mayor. She won the Asokwa NPP primary against former deputy local government minister Maxwell Kofi Jumah and took the seat in 2016, holding it in the elections that followed.
