About Yaw Tog
Yaw Tog was still a student at Opoku Ware School when "Sore" went viral in 2021. The Kumasi drill track was soon remixed with Kwesi Arthur and the British rapper Stormzy, and drew international attention to Asakaa, Kumasi's drill scene.
Roots
Thorsten Owusu Gyimah was born on 8 May 2003 and grew up in Santasi, Kumasi. The video director Koo Poku spotted him while he was still in school, and he sat his last WASSCE paper on 7 October 2021.
Music
"Sore" featured O'Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie and Jay Bahd. He followed it with singles such as "Sophia", "Y33gye", "Africa" and "Azul" with Bad Boy Timz, the album Young and Matured and, in 2025, the EP Tog City, featuring Stonebwoy on "Miracle" and Darkovibes on "City Boy". He has performed at Party in the Park in the UK.
