About Ben Abdallah Banda
Ben Abdallah Banda is a lawyer who represented Offinso South in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for three terms, from 2009 to 2021, and later chaired Ghana's Hajj Board. He was born on 15 August 1971 and comes from Abofour.
Lawyer and committee chair
Banda studied law at the University of Ghana and qualified at the Ghana School of Law in 2000. He is a partner at Obeng Manu Law Firm in Kumasi. In Parliament he chaired both the Judiciary Committee and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee.
Zongo Development and the Hajj
After leaving Parliament he was appointed Presidential Coordinator of the Zongo Development Fund in June 2021, and in February 2023 President Akufo-Addo made him chairman of the reconstituted Hajj Board, which organises Ghana's annual pilgrimage to Mecca. He is married with three children. Isaac Yaw Opoku now represents Offinso South.
