Benito Owusu Bio

Benito Owusu-Bio is a land economist and hotelier who represented Atwima-Nwabiagya North in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for twenty years, from 2005 to 2025, and served as a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

Hotel manager from Akropong

Born on 1 November 1968 at Akropong in the Ashanti Region, Owusu-Bio studied land economy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, graduating in 1994, and took a master's degree at the University of Birmingham. Before politics he was general manager of Hotel Georgia in Kumasi.

A safe seat for five terms

His first election in 2004 was a landslide, with about 80 percent of the vote, and he held the seat through four more elections. In the Seventh Parliament he served on the Roads and Transport and Public Accounts committees before joining the government as deputy lands minister under President Akufo-Addo.

After two decades in the House he handed over to Frank Yeboah, who kept the seat for the NPP in 2024.
