Elizabeth Afoley Quaye

Elizabeth Afoley Quaye is an agricultural officer who represented Krowor in Accra for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2021 and served as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development. She was born in 1970.

Twenty years at the agriculture ministry

Afoley Quaye trained at Kwadaso Agricultural College, took a national diploma in general agriculture at the University of Ghana and a degree in agribusiness at Central University. She spent about 20 years at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, becoming a principal production officer.

Fisheries minister

She won Krowor in 2016 with 51 percent of the vote, and President Akufo-Addo made her Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, a cabinet post covering coastal fishing communities, fish stocks and aquaculture. In 2020 she lost the seat to Agnes Naa Momo Lartey of the National Democratic Congress, whom she had beaten four years earlier. She is married with four children.
