Eno Barony

Eno Barony, born Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah Nyame Adom on 30 October 1991, is a Ghanaian rapper from Tema. In 2021 she became the first woman to win Best Rap Performance at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, for "God Is a Woman", and she has spent more than a decade proving she can trade bars with the best male rappers in the country.

A pastor's daughter from Tema

She was born in Tema to the Reverend Abraham Nyame Adom and Rebecca Nyame Adom. She went to Shallom Preparatory School and Cambridge Academy, then Methodist JHS and Methodist Day Secondary School, and later studied at Kumasi Polytechnic, now Kumasi Technical University. Her mother died in 2015.

Breaking into a male game

Eno started releasing music in 2012 and signed with Magic Mindx Music. In her early years she worked with some of the biggest names in Ghana, recording with Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Medikal, Wendy Shay and the late Ebony Reigns.

Her turning point was "Fear No Man" in 2018, a hard-edged track that established her as a serious rapper rather than a novelty. She has styled herself the queen of Ghanaian rap.

Albums

Her albums are Yaa Asantewaa, named after the Asante queen mother who led the 1900 war against the British, Ladies First, and No Manual. No Manual, an eight-track project, was released on 1 January 2025 through Magic Mindx Music and ONErpm. Since then she has put out singles including "Soloku" and "Scars and Sins" in 2025 and "Big Girls" with Sista Afia on 24 July 2026.

Awards

The African Muzik Magazine Awards named her Best Female Rap Act in Africa in 2020. In 2021 she won Rapper of the Year at the 3Music Awards and made history at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with Best Rap Performance for "God Is a Woman".
