About Stephen Mahamudu Yakubu
Stephen Mahamudu Yakubu is a planner and diplomat who represented Binduri in the Upper East Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2009 to 2013, and was later Ghana's ambassador to Morocco and Upper East Regional Minister. He was born at Gotisaliga in Binduri on 25 May 1966.
He studied planning at KNUST and information systems at Thames Valley University in the UK. In 2008 he won Binduri, until then an NDC seat, with 50.4 percent of the vote. He lost it in 2012 but stayed active in the party. President Akufo-Addo made him ambassador to Morocco in 2017, and in 2021 he became Upper East Regional Minister. Mahmoud Issifu of the NDC holds Binduri today.
