Agnes Dordzie

Agnes Mercy Abla Dordzie is a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana, where she sat from 2018 to 2022. She was born at Taviefe-Deme in the Volta Region on 2 October 1952.

She went to Awudome Secondary School and OLA Girls' Secondary School in Ho, read law and political science at the University of Ghana and was called to the bar in November 1980. She was an assistant state attorney, worked for the Ministry of Justice in Cross River State in Nigeria, and practised at Adzoe Gbadegbe and Company before becoming a magistrate at Somanya in 1987.

She was a circuit judge in Accra from 1991, a High Court judge from 1995 and supervising High Court judge for the Ashanti Region from 2003 to 2005, and the Commonwealth Secretariat seconded her to the High Court of The Gambia. She joined the Court of Appeal in 2010. She sat on the committee that recommended the removal of Electoral Commission chair Charlotte Osei, and critics said her 2018 nomination to the Supreme Court was a reward for it, which the government denied. She was sworn in in October 2018 and retired in October 2022.
